About Advanced Control Research Ltd

Introduction

Advanced Control Research Ltd (ACR) is a University of Plymouth spin-off company that was formed in November 1998 to conduct research and development into all areas of intelligent and innovative control systems.

With the help of grants from the Department of Trade and Industry (SMART Awards) a loan from the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA) and a grant from the Technology Strategy Board, ACR has developed advanced microcontrollers for upper limb prostheses and a portable early diagnostic system for an imminent heart attack, based on pattern recognition technology.
